7 Major in Biology 1) Pick up an "Application for Admission to Biology Majors Program" form from the Biology Office. 2) To be admitted to the program students must have completed: Biology 1001/1002 with an average of at least 65%. Minimum overall average of 60% in six other specified first- year courses (two English, two Chemistry or Physics, two Mathematics)

8 Major in Biology 3) Requires 40 courses: 2 English 15 Biology courses 7 ‘Core’ courses Introductory Biology (1&2) Ecology Genetics Cell Biology Evolution One of: Comparative Animal Physiology Plant Physiology Biophysics Microbial Physiology

9 Major in Biology 8 Biology Electives : ( * 2000, 3000 & 4000 level) 10 non-Biology required science courses Introductory Chemistry (1&2) or General Chemistry (1&2) Organic Chemistry for Biologists Introductory Physics (1&2) or General Physics (1&2) Algebra and Trigonometry Calculus Introductory Biochemistry Metabolism Statistics for Life Science Students * 1 Science elective (for a B.Sc. 26 courses must be in science) 12 General electives (may include additional Biology courses)

10 Major in Biology One or more of the organism courses (Invertebrate, Vertebrate and Plant Biology) are key prerequisites to many 3000 & 4000 level Biology courses, and it is recommended that at least one be completed in second year.

11 Honours in Biology 1) 'B' or better in each Biology course beyond first year or 75% average in the 23 Biology courses required for an Honours (excluding first year biology) 2) submit an "Application for Admission to Honours Program Faculty of Arts or Science" form to the Registrar's Office at the beginning of third year (ie., at the start of the fifth semester or later)
