2 Nouns carry either a definite or an indefinite article to indicate their masculine or feminine gender. 1-Definite articles:le/la/l Le chat – masculine – the cat Le garçon – the boy, lhôpital – the hospital; le héro – the hero Lordinateur – the computer

3 La voiture- feminine – the car La fille –the girl ; lhôtesse de lair- the air hostess ; la honte- the shame ; luniversité –the university

4 The plural of both le and la is les Les chats, les ordinateurs, les voitures, les universités 2- Indefinite articles : un / une un chat – masculine a cat
