Overview of the Deparment of Telematics Telematics research is the creation of new knowledge about networks and networked services, encompassing technology, society, and economics. The research within the Department of Telematics has focus on the technology aspects, which can be described in two dimensions: –The system dimension represents the knowledge about the architecture of networks and networked services. –The discipline dimension represents knowledge about the methods and tools - including mathematics and languages - needed for the specification, design, construction, implementation and validation of networks and networked services.
3
Research Areas The research is organised in three research areas: –Networks (Coordinator: Associate professor Poul Heegaard) has focus on Dependability and performance of Access networks and Core networks. –Networked Systems (Architecture and Engineering of Networked Service and Multimedia Systems) (Coordinator: Professor Finn Arve Aagesen) has focus on Systems Engineering of Services and applications and Distributed platforms. –Information Security (Coordinator: Professor Svein Knapskog) has focus on Information security in Services and applications, Distributed platforms and Core networks.
4
Education Department of Telematics is presently offering MSc and PhD education. The department aims at giving an education which combines: theory and laboratory experiments, individual work and group projects. This results in knowledge with life-long relevance, knowledge that meets the relevant needs of society as well as commercial activities.
