Forum Objectives To highlight programs/processes which have been implemented recently or are ready now for implementation To identify on-going programs which show promising results and must be supported with continuing resources to reach fruition To illuminate gaps where no work is planned To identify overlaps and assess them Four overarching objectives are:

Next Steps/Action Plan Use information gathered to fill in Tier 3/4 knowledge gaps Explore issues with the public/private boundary and roles for aviation weather services Seek interagency opportunities for rapid prototyping and technology transition Continued interagency advocacy for improved volcanic ash forecasting

Next Steps/Action Plan(2) Explore standardization of formats and communication protocols for both info to the cockpit and ground-to-ground transmission of information such as ITWS products Coordinate interagency development of training requirements for weather service providers

Next Steps/Action Plan(3) Shift from product-centric training to application-centric training Explore public/private roles for user weather training Focus training on sound decisionmaking Coordinate to improve PIREP process Explore opportunities with electronic PIREPs Improve meteorologist focus on operational support-- “think like a pilot”

Next Steps/Action Plan(4) Coordinate human factors efforts Explore and seek solutions to issues of bandwidth, product development, training, and hardware certification/retrofit for cockpit displays Explore creation and potential uses of a product description document - use as a training tool?
