In Your Life Take time at the start of each day to focus on you. At Work At the beginning of your workday, plan the amount of time you expect to spend on each item. Handle each piece of paper one time. At the end of each workday, make a list of things to do the next day. Schedule time in your week to follow-up on details of your work. Record deadlines and appointments on your calendar.

At Work Monitor your records and files; throw out or store those used infrequently. Maintain Child Nutrition Program records for five years. Work on high-priority tasks first. Set your watch five or ten minutes fast and practice being early. Start and end meetings on time (a 90 minute meeting is most efficient). Cluster your phone calls to sales people. Customer phone calls should be a priority. Periodically review how you are spending your time.

During each day, write down the tasks you work on and how much time you spend on them. Keep the list of your top priorities you named in It's Time for What's Important. Compare your daily record to your priority list. Revise your schedule to ensure that your daily work time is spent on those things which are most important for your work, and hopefully for you, too.
