Description of animal  The name of my animal is a giraffe. Giraffes are the tallest mammals in the world. Giraffes have towering legs and long necks. Giraffes legs alone are taller than many humans, and they are about 6 feet tall. Giraffes run about 35 miles an hour. A giraffe plucks leaves from acacia trees with its 18 inch long tongue. My animal has different designs on the fur to help it blend into its habitat. The giraffe has 2 horns to communicate with one another.

Food and diagram  My animal eats thorny leaves off of Acacia trees. The thing that the giraffe gets eaten by is lions and cheetahs, so the giraffe is a herbivore because it eats leaves off of Acacia trees in grasslands. Giraffes have a herd about half a dozen that keeps an eye out for lions and cheetahs so they don’t get eaten by lions and/or cheetahs lions cheetahs giraffes Acacia tree

Adaptations  Camouflaged coat-Patches of different sizes and colors help hide the giraffe in the African savannah. Fringed tail-A fringe at the end of the tail keeps flies and other pests away. Hind legs- The hind legs are shorter than the front legs. Short horns-males have knobbed hairless horns, females have thinner tufted horns. Long neck-It is used to reach leaves in tall Acacia trees. Long front legs-Unlike many animals the giraffes front legs are longer than the hind legs, these long front legs make it easer to reach tall leaves.

Habitat  The habitat for my animal is the grasslands. The grassland is a habitat that is filled with grass. Giraffes roam the open grasslands in small groups about half a dozen. The grasslands are in Africa. They are flat with no mountains and or hills, the grasslands have lots of trees and also have rocks for animals to lay on.

Interesting facts  These fascinating animals battle one another by butting their long necks and heads together. Giraffes use their height to a good advantage, and browse on leaves, and buds in treetops that few other animals can reach. Even the giraffes tongue is long! Giraffes start to grow horns in adult age. the giraffe has 2 horns so they can communicate one another.

If humans should be involved in habitats  Humans shouldn’t be involved in habitats because if humans are involved in habitats the habitat might be destroyed, and we don’t want that to happen to animals. my animal is endangered by lions because lions eat baby giraffes. Humans haven't been involved in the changes in my animals habitat because the animal lives in the African savanna, and noone lives there.
