2 Welcome…. Printmaking Students! Throughout this 1 semester course (.5 credit), we will engage in the study of the following concepts: Monoprints Relief Printmaking Linoleum Block Collagraph Batik Techniques Color Mixing/ Color Theory Drawing (Perspective) Principles of Design Symbolism/Metaphor Art History/Contemporary Art Studies Reflective Writing & Discussion Please be prepared to write about and discuss art concepts.

5 Relief printmaking Simply means creating a relief (a surface that is set out from the background, in order to print the raised surface) For example; woodcut, linoleum block and collagraph.

9 Collagraph to create architectural elements We will be creating a final collagraph project, using textured areas to create a “corner of a room” image. The class will learn the basics of drawing one and two point perspective, in order to enhance the project outcome.

10 Batik Techniques Wax/Resist & Dye or Paint on Fabric.

12 Review What is drawing in 1 & 2 point perspective? How will we use the Principles of Design? How will we use color theories? What about symbolism?

13 Writing/Research How would you choose to research and write about your findings in this class…… SUGGESTIONS……
