Intelligent Watering Can By Emin Sinani Principles of intelligent systems

Environment Indoor / Outside Area User Water tap Water Plants

Approach User – Watering Can ( Handling ) Watering Can – Plant ( Nutrition) The amount of water has an impact on the interaction of the user but the watering can does not adapt to it. Wrist cannot carry too much weight on its own.

Goal A watering can that adapts to the ergonomic needs of the user based on the amount of water.

Design

Product Environment Water (Weight) User Hand (Position, Power)

Principles Decentralized, direct action and reaction with its environment. The intelligence of the user is used to slip the hand back into normal position. The grip is designed to fit with a human hand.

System Detail The grip piece moves by the weight of the water and the position and angle of the hand. The grip piece moves only in 1 direction by the shapes of the ring and its connections with the can. Degree of freedom is based on the size of the ring.

Discussion It is an embodied system, since it has direct action/reaction with its environment. The material of the grip and its connection should be balanced out correctly. Future possibilities for indoor watering cans and other products based on the same mechanism.

Reflection Thinking more directly from the environment instead of only centralized.

Thank you for your attention
