Upon completion of the basic core curriculum, students may apply for practical training. Training commences upon written approval by the on- and off-campus supervisors. Core Courses (14 credits): Applied Biostatistics (3 credits) Principles of Epidemiology (2 credits) Principles in Health Policy (2 credits) Principles of Health Promotion (2 credits) Environmental Health or Occupational Health (2 credits) Research Methods in Public Health (2 credits) Public Health: Perspective and Prospect or Public Health Ethics (1 credit) Disciplinary Field Required Courses (6-7 credits) Elective Courses Practicum (6 credits): After core courses, students have to complete a 200-hours practicum and the final report has to be submitted to committee members for evaluation. 2 Special Features Interdisciplinary curriculum Basic core courses include an overview of the five core competencies of public health, namely Biological Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Management, Environmental Health Sciences, and Health and Behavioral Sciences. These core courses set the foundation of knowledge and techniques that enable students to adequately prepare for future practice in public health. Practicum training In contrast to a traditional master's thesis, our MPH program requires that students closely observe and analyze problems related to public health and venture possible solutions to overcome them. Practically oriented courses to meet the changing needs of society Experts and professionals in public health are regularly invited to provide a variety of viewpoints related to all aspects of healthcare institutions. A course of public health forum Our innovative inclusion of a platform for prominent experts (both domestic and international) with a background in public health to interact directly with the students successfully diversifies the knowledge sources on which students can draw. The theoretical and practical knowledge they provide is an important educational resource capable of extending the learning process beyond Core Values Compassion, Integrity, Teamwork, Equality (CITE) Overview The Master of Public Health Degree Program in National Taiwan University (NTU MPH) is the first interdepartmental master program offered in Taiwan. Our outstanding program is known throughout the country as the first professional program specializing in public health leadership. The goal of the MPH program is to train students as frontline professionals in public health practice who emphasize human rights, possess a global perspective and aspire to assure the welfare of all human beings. The NTU MPH program integrates resources from a range of disciplines within the college to provide leadership training in the field of public health. The innovative curriculum design of our MPH program integrates academic research and practice in the field of public health, granting our students the knowledge and tools they need to actively contribute to the improvement of health on both local and international level. Five Concentrations Biostatistics Environmental Health Sciences Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine Health Services Administration Social and Behavioral Sciences Admission Requirement The admission requirement is to have a domestic or foreign bachelor degree that is recognized by the Ministry of Education, along with 3 years of working experience related to public health. International students are welcome to apply. Faculty All faculty members in College of Public Health are involved in the education of MPH programs. Their specialties include biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, health policy, health services administration, industrial safety and hygiene, preventive medicine, and social and behavioral sciences. Currently we have 54 full-time faculty members and 46 adjunct faculty. Each member is affiliated with a research institute. There are four institutes in the College, including Institute of Environmental Health, Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Institute of Health Policy and Management, and Institute of Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene.
