5  Matka is a canyon located west of Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia.  Covering roughly 5,000 hectares, Matka is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in Macedonia and is home to several medieval monas  There are 10 caves at Matka Canyon, with the shortest In length being 20 metres (65.6 feet) and the longest being 176 metres (577.4 feet).

6  The waterfall is part of the Lomnica River and is located deep in the Belasica Mountain at an elevation of 630 metres.  Crashing down the smooth, black rock face, and surrounded by 100-year-old beech trees, this waterfall is visited by tourists throughout the year.  To reach the majestic beauty of the Smolare Waterfall, visitors must wind their way up a nature path which includes 300 stone steps made from natural materials.

7 Lake Ohrid straddles the mountainous border between the southwestern Republic of Macedonia and eastern Albania. It is one of Europe's deepest and oldest lakes, preserving a unique aquatic ecosystem with more than 200 endemic species that is of worldwide importance.The importance of the lake was further emphasized when it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979. However, human activity on the lake shores and in its catchment area is resulting in the ecosystem coming under stress.
