Circulatory System Swimming works your whole body including your circulatory/cardiovascular system. Your circulatory system benefits because swimming directly affects the heart. This means that it improves your body’s use of oxygen without overworking your heart.

Muscular System Swimming uses almost every muscle in your body. Swimming mainly works the muscles in your arms and legs like your biceps, triceps, your calves and hamstrings. It also works your shoulders, chest and abs, so that your are able to float easier in the water.

Nervous System The nervous system directs and coordinates the movements, you need to swim, so that you can swim the correct legal strokes. Your brain tells your body what to do so that you know where the wall is and how to swim the strokes without getting hurt.

Respiratory System The Respiratory System is the system that helps you breathe, you would not be able to stay underwater without your respiratory system. Therefore you would not be able to swim.

Skeletal System The Skeletal System helps in swimming because you use your this system to move and be able to swim correctly. Without your skeletal system you could not move at all.

Excretory System The Excretory System doesn’t play a big part in swimming, except when you get hot, and in order to stay cool you sweat through your excretory system.

Immune System Your Immune system prevents you from getting sick and catching viruses. Your immune system blocks out infections so that you can continue to swim. In order to help this system you have to eat healthy and right.

Digestive System The Digestive System gives you energy, so that you can swim at a high level and not get dehydrated. By this I mean that you need to eat right, drink lots of water during practice and have good nutrition so that you can swim at the best of your ability.
