Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest (Jn. 4:35) CHRIST’S CONCERN TO REAP THE HARVEST PROBLEM: WE COULD LOSE THE HARVEST

CHRIST’S SOLUTION MATTHEW 9:35-10:1 MORE LABORERS

“To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father.” EVERYONE A MINISTER Revelation 1:6

Your principal job, cell leader, is not to find members to fill the group but to develop the next disciple.

We develop small groups so we can build disciples, because disciples build groups.

“You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:1-3, Paul says:

Developing future leaders is a Biblical way of life. Moses tutored Joshua and Elijah trained Elisha. The Apostles were recruited and trained by Jesus. Barnabas discipled Paul who in turn developed Timothy. Cell leader, can you point to someone who you are developing?

The goal is to convert each cell member into a Disciple who makes other disciples Disciple who makes other disciples

 The story is told of Michelangelo passing by a huge chunk of marble that lay by the roadside. Another sculptor had become discouraged with the marble and discarded it. Michelangelo began to stare at that chunk of marble. He continued to stare until one of his friends became impatient and said, “What are you staring at?” Michelangelo looked up and said, “I’m staring at an angel.” He could see something wonderful and worthwhile in a broken piece of stone.

RISKING FOR JESUS Don’t criticize Peter: At least he stepped out of the boat “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus (Mt. 14:27-32).”

RISKING FOR JESUS Stumbling and learning is normal, but at least they stepped out of the boat and learned valuable lessons in the process; some never step out and do little for Jesus. Stumbling and learning is normal, but at least they stepped out of the boat and learned valuable lessons in the process; some never step out and do little for Jesus.
