28 What da Floc? Bacterial growth in activated sludge digested (aerobic) will aggregate (floc). Dissolved organics aggregate with bacterial growth and removed from the water. Imbalances may cause growth of filamentous bacteria or fungi; prevents settling; called “bulking”.
