3 EUREKA a catalyst for collaboration 3 EUREKA history Historical data Launched in 1985 with 17 member countries from Western Europe and the Commission of the European Communities 1991 - EUREKA opened its doors to Central & Eastern European countries 1998 - Encouraged project participation from anywhere in the world, allowing industry to ‘work with the best’ Currently 33 member countries and the Commission of the European Union

The results of EUREKA projects actively contribute to wellbeing, security, environment and employment in Europe – and beyond.

EUREKA, with its unique ability to react rapidly to market change, should be central in supporting this innovation and working towards the 3% Objective.
