5 NREL’S DER Test Facility IEEE P1547 Interconnection Standard – Can conduct all tests for DG interconnection 200kW Utility Grid Simulator – Simulate utility grid and full control of voltage and frequency to test DG response to grid disturbances Data Acquisition – Includes Labview/ National Instruments DAS for long-term monitoring of power system, Yokogawa PZ4000 Power analyzer for short-term high resolution measurements, Power Measurements 7600 for remote site data acquisition KeyTek Surge Tester – Simulate high-voltage lightning strikes on DG equipment DG Test Pads DG Test Equipment Grid Simulator DAS Surge Tester

6 DER Distributed Power Program Testing at Nevada Test Site NREL Distribute Power Program is conduct exploratory field tests to validate interconnection and commissioning tests included in the IEEE P1547 interconnection standard at the Nevada Test Site. NREL is also developing a long-term testing plan for NTS. Testing on 2 different types of DG: 1. Static Inverter (5kW Inverter with PV array ) 2. Synchronous generator (100kW diesel gensets w/ paralleling package). Feeder 25-1202 at Area 25 of Nevada Test Site DG Test Location Substation 25-10
