1 IRRIIS – Integrated Risk Reduction of Information-based Infrastructure Systems Workshop - Middleware Improved Technology for Interdependent Critical Infrastructures 8 February 2007, Rome Felix Flentge

2 IRRIIS IRRIIS Mission To enhance substantially the dependability of Large Complex Critical Infrastructures by introducing appropriate Middleware Improved Technology components within the next three years.

3 IRRIIS IRRIIS Focus Dependencies between critical infrastructures, especially electricity & telecommunication Modelling and simulation of systems of critical infrastructures Enabling cross-sector, cross-border communication between critical infrastructures Risk assessment and mitigation regarding dependencies

4 IRRIIS The IRRIIS Project MIT Development Design & Evaluation of MIT concepts MIT Communication Components and Risk Management Language “Intelligent” MIT add-on components for risk assessment and mitigation of cascading effects Interfaces for easy integration into existing systems SimCIP Development Agent-based simulation environment for interdependent CI systems Multi-layer simulation (implementation- service-effect; physical-cyber-mgmt.) Integration of existing tools & models Test-bed for MIT components Models, Methodologies, Knowledge MIT components SimCIP environment Diagnosis - Therapy Analysis & Research Survey of existing tools and models Analysis of the state of the art (research gaps) Requirements for SimCIP and MIT Scenario and Risk Analysis Topology Analysis Interdependency Analysis Analysis of Next Generation Networks
