SAAM
Special Assignment Airlift Mission
Air Mobility Command manages the air transportation program for the Department of Defense and provides scheduled and special assignment airlift for movement of armed forces personnel and cargo.

An AMC SAM is defined as user funded airlift requiring special pickup or delivery by AMC at points other than those within established AMC route patterns, or requirements for movement that demand special consideration because of the number of passengers involved, the weight or size of cargo, or other special factors.
