Example 1:Write the slope-intercept equation of the line that contains the point (0 -5) and has slope Substitute values into the equation … Note that the point (0 -5) is the y-intercept, so b = - 5.

Example 2:Write the slope-intercept equation of the line that contains the points (- 3, 8) and (0, - 2). Now, find the slope of the line using the given points. Note that the point (0 -2) is the y-intercept, so b = - 2.
