At the top of the note card, write a key word or phrase to indicate the subject of your paraphrase. 4.Double check your interpretation with the original to make sure that your version accurately expresses all the important information in a new form. 5.Use quotation marks if necessary to identify any unique term or phraseology you have borrowed exactly from the source. 6.Record the source (including the page) on your note card so that you can credit it easily if you decide to incorporate the material into your paper.

30. What is Plagiarism? Plagiarism is taking another person’s words (written or spoken), ideas, theories, facts (that are not considered general knowledge), statistics, art work, etc. and passing them off as your own.

31. It is NOT okay to… Change the language of the information you are using and pass it off as your own.

32. You MUST… Acknowledge the proper source, otherwise it is considered plagiarism.

34. Just Remember… Whenever you use any information that is not your own, be sure to reference the source, in other words CITE YOUR SOURCES!!!

Most of the time, a teacher will simply fail you for the assignment, however in college you can fail a class for one plagiarized sentence. In Mrs. Gehrt’s class you will fail the assignment if you plagiarize.

George is aware that Lennie is not thinking about how the water could make him sick.
