3. Summary Pandora was a beautiful lady. She was made out of clay by Hephaestus on Zeus’ order. Once she was made, Zeus sent her to Epimetheus, Prometheus’ brother. There, she married him and Zeus gave her a box. Zeus gave her the box and told her not to open it. Then Zeus gave Epimetheus the key and told him not to open it. One day when Epimetheus was asleep, Pandora stole the key from him and open the box. Once opened all the evil things flew out. She slammed the lid closed but it was too late. Crime, Hate, Disease, Envy, they were all out. Epimetheus woke up to her sobbing. She told him what she had done. She showed him that the box was empty except for one thing that flew out… Hope.

4. Symbols/Theme Symbols/Archetypes Box- Darkness, bad, evil. Hope- Goodness, faith, belief. Theme The theme of this story is “Don’t let your curiosity get the best of you, you will never know the consequences until they happen.” This theme shows that Pandora’s curiosity got the best of her and now she has been known as the goddess who let all the bad things into the world.
