6 Celebrate the First Day  The first day of school celebration should include: everyone at school, parents, local businesses and members of the community.  Partnering with your community to show support for students gives students a greater chance for success. 10 Welcome Students to School How to welcome students to school:  The school should host a celebration on the first day.  Welcome students at the bus stop.  Meet and welcome students at the front entrance.  Host a “pep rally” as students arrive and involve the school band. 11 Welcome Students to School How to welcome students to school:  Create a large welcome banner to hang outside.  Provide teachers and staff who can guide students to their classes.  Ensure your name, room number and subject (if applicable) are clearly displayed.  Welcome students via intercom in a positive, excited way.
