11. 1. MEANING: What does the promise actually say? Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Ps 37:4 Delight: Not for spectators; action word involving communication & interaction; seeks knowledge and insight. Will they find delight in the Almighty? Will they call on God at all times? Job 27:10 Desires: Not passive; something requested

13. 2. USE: How do you intend to use the promise? You want something but don’t get it. You kill & covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures (amusements, selfish longings). Jm. 4:2,3
