62 Today’s Market Needs There are many customers with many unique needs.
There is an on-going and increasing demand in hardcopy for referring physicians. Referring physicians have more imaging options and, therefore, are expecting more to win their business. Continued pressure to reduce costs Administrators are acutely aware of these needs Until Horizon, there has been no product available to deal with these conflicting goals: REDUCE COSTS CATER TO THEIR CUSTOMER BASE

63 Multi-media Imager Horizon’s exclusive multi-media feature provides a solution for administrators to satisfy the needs of their diverse customer base Some referring physicians prefer DV Paper, some want color, and many still want film Multi-media printing is the only way to ease the transition from film to paper Radiology departments are not forced to shut down all filming in order to move to our money-saving paper They can pace the process and minimize the risk

64 Thermal Technology Thermal printhead Thermal heat element Image
scanning line Thermal sensitive media Pressure roller

65 Multi-media samples

66 DirectVista® Paper DV Paper answers today’s market need for referring physician hardcopy DV Paper answers today’s market demand to SAVE MONEY!

67 Horizon GS-RAD, Ci-RAD 3 film sizes online
Same features as any Horizon GS or Ci plus 11x14” Blue Film (28x36cm) Existing Horizon GS and Ci on the installed base can not be upgraded GS-RAD and Ci-RAD are priced including H-DPT-2-3 (total of 3-year warranty) Not intended for End User Presentation

68 It’s a Safe Decision Administrators would love to switch from film to paper as soon as possible to save money Most referring physicians prefer and welcome the change to paper But, not everyone is the same. Some prefer traditional film, at least for now So the Administrator is cautious about any approach that requires cutting off film completely A multi-media printer is ideal because it allows the transition to be paced at the rate the radiology department’s customer base will accept It’s a very safe decision

69 Horizon - Low Overhead Horizon has a very low total cost of ownership
Service, connectivity and cost per copy are lower than the customer’s existing imager Many centers continue to work with a print network designed for pre-soft copy review. When film volumes decreases, cost-per-copy skyrockets !

70 Most Flexible Imager Horizon addresses an entire range of needs found in the broader hospital sale Each modality has unique requirements High volume filming for primary read DV Paper for referring physicians Color for modality-specific applications and marketing Whether one (1) Horizon is used as a centralized resource or many are used decentralized, Horizon’s flexibility allows the hospital to standardize on ONE imager.

71 Horizon - Key Points Size – Smallest & lightest in the world, truly desktop DICOM – up to 24 connections PostScript - Print directly from PC SmartCard technology - Maximum up-time Up to 5-year warranty contracts 300 sheet media capacity 3 output trays Versatility - 3 imagers in1 unit Fast TTFP - 14x17 film in 70 seconds Output - 78 Film per hour Quality Control – Built in densitometer

72 Horizon – key points DirectVista Film for un-compromised diagnostic quality DirectVista Paper to save money Multi-media capabilities to satisfy everyone Low overhead to reduce the ‘real’ cost per print Most flexible ensuring one printer meets all the needs Best-in-class service program Why would anyone want to buy an obsolete “FILM-ONLY” imager today?

79 Horizon - The Perfect DEMO

80 Overview Preparing for your demonstration The demonstration
The sales pitch Post demonstration

81 Preparing for Demo Prepare a Checklist
Laptop with appropriate images and tools 9 meter straight cable (quantity 2) 9 meter crossover cable Have the correct ‘mains’ cable Transport cart A film marker (sharpie or other) Unique specification sheets per model Packing tape Manuals: User’s & Technical

82 Preparing for Demo Prepare a Checklist cont. Blank Zip disk
Software and Drivers Alcohol pads Cleaning Cassette Media all types DICOM Conformance Statement Optical loupe for viewing films Appropriate sample prints film / paper / color Validation reports (CD or hardcopy)

83 New Validations

84 Preparing for Demo Determine Strategy and Objectives
Plan out what the strategy of the demo will be What must be connected to? What images and prints must be made? What does the customer expect to see? Strategy must fit the time constraints Determine Objectives Make prints Get “Cost of Ownership” data Meet with key people Determine org chart in account Set up next appointment Get referrals

85 Preparing for Demo Understand Your Audience
You should adjust your presentation to meet the objectives of the demo attendees Technical or non-technical audience Clinical or non-clinical Financial or non-financial

86 Preparing for Demo Understand The Account Identify your ‘champion’
Map out buying process Identify decision makers Identify buying cycle/process Tender (“surround strategy”) Private Understand your competition

87 Preparing for Demo Understand the Customer Environment
Is the customer hardcopy reading or softcopy PACS? To what equipment will you connect? Will there be a bio-engineer or IT personnel available to help you? Have you contacted and/or arranged for the HOST SYSTEM engineer to be available during demo? Do you have Codonics Tech Support numbers on hand?

88 Preparing for Demo Understand the Customer Environment
Do you have the proper passwords and addresses to make the connections? Determine the quantity & media types you will need. Will the customer be replacing the current imager? Will this be a new installation purchase?

89 Preparing for Demo Captions Color Paper : Yes DV Paper : Yes
DV Film : not recommended

90 Preparing for Demo Be Prepared to Battle the Competition
Do you know who you will be competing with? Coach the user to make a fair comparison Compare all variables “TCO” Media + Imager + Service + Maintenance Read their signals Choose your battles

91 Preparing for Demo Allow enough time … to do the demo
to leave the product with the customer for key people missing and referral doctors to see the product to gather all the information to do image quality adjustments to do time studies against the competition to work undiscovered opportunities and meet new people to create a custom caption for “stuff” to happen

92 The Demo Packaging Media Considerations are sending it back to you
Will you leave the unit overnight? Plan for packaging and storage Make sure the customer knows how to repack if they are sending it back to you (have pre-made shipping labels) Refer to the Horizon Quick Start Guide Media Considerations Do I re-use media trays from demo to demo? How do I repack them? Remember, they are perishable

93 The Demo Cleaning Clean: Print all medias dust free prior to demo.
Platen the print head the pick tires Print all medias dust free prior to demo. You may want to use a Cleaning Cassette too. Make test prints calibration prints for film media

94 The Demo Manage Your Crowd
Give yourself time for setup and working with the tech prior. Tech will tell you the way the radiologists like their films. Tech will know the most common type of exams, making for familiar images for the radiologist. Prepare Bracketing print and samples of target images on all media types BEFORE the radiologist is called in.

95 The Demo Once the Tech likes the images, call the radiologists in
Always prove your Image quality on FILM first Then, introduce DVP/White Film (referral copy) Then, see if there is color interest (eye candy) The key is to listen to the customer and be specific in answering their questions; it’s easy to stray given all of Horizon’s features.

96 The Demo Image Quality/Adjustments
Always START with film to establish credibility. Use bracketing. Select ‘Visual LUT’ 99% of the time. ONLY use ‘Linear’ if the validation report specifies. NEVER turn off ‘Auto Film Calibration’. Mark films with Sharpie marker when incremental changes are made. Note DVP looks RED in incandescent light. Medical Color Matching (MCM) table can be found in the Technical Manual.

97 The Sales Pitch Image Quality Film quality Savings on paper/white film
Color is the “cherry on the cake”

98 The Sales Pitch Service
Reliability and savings on warranty and service

99

100 Post Demonstration Understand the Deal Don’t forget:
Will it be an outright capital purchase? Will the site buy on a ‘per sheet’ contract for a fixed period? Will the site lease? Will the imager be bundled with an alternate system through an OEM? Is the customer interested in a trade in? Don’t forget: Review the Competition’s Offer

101 Post Demonstration Work the buying cycle to completion.
ASK FOR THE ORDER. If the deal gets very competitive, gather all the information possible (Total Cost of Ownership details) and contact your Codonics Rep. We want the business as much as you do . . .

102 What Can Go Wrong ? But … You did your presentation.
You did your demo. Everything went great. But … The customer says they are on a buying group contract. A competitor offers a film contract. A competitor offers a free imager.

103 What To Do When … A competitor offers a film contract, free imager
or other a very special offer. Determine if Horizon’s unique features are of value or are we purely in a price war. If Horizon’s features have value, then attempt to determine how much incremental value they are worth over the competitive offer. Contact your Codonics representative. They will help you put together a competitive response!

104

105 Imager Economics – TCO “Total Cost of Ownership”
What is it? Acquisition Cost Cost Per Film / Print Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Different customers will place different priorities for which drives their decision. Our job, as sales people: Listen to our customer Understand and identify their “hot button” Our goal: Teach you how to put together a winning TCO model for the Codonics Horizon.

106 Acquisition Cost Key points: Definition:
The amount of money the end user must spend to acquire the Horizon. Key points: Horizon’s price includes: 1 year swap warranty In some countries, it is customary to sell products with a 2-year warranty, in that case, add the H-DPT-2. Horizon’s DICOM is a flat fee, with no incremental cost per connection (24).

107 Cost Per Film / Print Definition: Key points:
The amount of money the end user must spend to acquire each piece of media printed. Key points: Film prices vary by country in some we are high other low. Learn where you need to be to make the TCO provide your customer value. Horizon’s paper pricing is significantly lower than that of comparable size film, allowing a reduction of media cost of 20 to 60% of that of film. Horizon’s color media costs for medical images are comparable to ink jet and laser prints made on high quality media and using manufacturer’s recommended supplies.

108 Calculating The TCO Define the following key variables:
period to be analyzed volume of media to be printed individual item costs Add up the following: Cost of acquisition Cost of media usage during period Cost of service during the period To Calculate TCO per print, divide the sum (above) by the number of prints Other potential analysis may be TCO by year, month or print or even square meters of film .

109 TCO Comparisons Try to create a situation where you are comparing similar scenario For competitors be sure to include: First year warranty (if applicable) DICOM costs (if applicable) Preventive maintenance Limited life components * * Ex: Filters, rollers, optic modules, etc.

110 TCO – Total cost of Ownership
Definition: The total amount of money the end user must spend to own and operate the Horizon imager over a specific period of time. Total Cost includes: Imager and Connection Costs Media Costs Service and Support Costs One of the key elements of Horizon’s Value Proposition is “Lower Total Cost of Ownership”

111 TCO – Total cost of Ownership
Look at competition hidden costs ! Remember the Golden rule

112 TCO – example 1 Case study 1 – Public Hospital
Radiology department with 1 CT and 1 MR Codonics dealer offers 23,000 € for a Horizon GS 1.90 €/film (14”x17”) 1 Year warranty 20,000 films/year Competition offers 20,000 € for a 14”x17” only imager Who wins?

113 TCO – example 1 Case study 1 Winner = Look at the hidden costs!
How much for the service in the next 5 years ? Codonics = 2,300 €/year for the years 2-5 (list price years 2-5 is 1,841 €/year) Average of 1,840 €/year in 5 years Competition = 4,500 €/year for the years 2-5 Average of 3,600 €/year in 5 years Let’s do the math: Codonics TCO = (1.90 x 20,000 Films + 1,473) x ,000 = 222,200 € Competition TCO = (1.90 x 20,000 Films + 3,200) x ,000 = 228,000 € Winner =

114

115 Logistics Consolidation of shipment through good
planning of end user consumption of media Use Ocean Freight to save significantly over Air Shipment When shipping by Air, remember to ship media along with imagers to save (from Cleveland only)

116 Logistics Logistics = Freight + Duty + Import Tax
Through due diligence, our distributors in Turkey and Ukraine identified that the competition was paying less import duty than them. They managed to work out a way with the local Customs to benefit from the same rate and therefore increase their competitiveness on street film price.

117

118 Sales Tools – The Pipeline
What is it? Organizational tool It lists the sites with a capital equipment acquisition intension or already in progress. “HOT LIST” It lists the stand-alone / after-market opportunities and the status of the deal (always including DEMO information) Provides up-to-date market status at a glance Why does it matter? 159 Market Segment – Veterinary
Summary : Introduction Segment Market Products / Needs Applications Competition Conclusion

160 Introduction The Veterinary Market in Europe is moving
very fast the last 2 years all vets start to think Digital Radiography. The reasons: Films price Chemical Environment Increase Revenues Image Quality

161 Market Segment The Veterinary market in Europe is divided
by 2 major segments: Companion Animal (Dog, Cat, Bird, Snake, etc) Equine (Horse) These 2 segments are not equal in term of number of clinics. It depend on the country but most of the time you will find 70% of Companion Animal practices

162 Market Segment 25 % of Equine practices and 5% for mixed practices.
25% Equine is not huge but don’t ignore this market, in reality it is the most important market. As of today in Europe 15% of all clinics are Digital.

163 Products/Needs In Europe 80% of Vets are interesting with CR 30% with DR (20% Equine 10% CA) Vets who are interest with CR are small clinics due to the low investment of CR. Vets who are interested with DR are big clinics, referrals clinics, Imaging centers, Zoo and Vet Schools.

164 Products/Needs Large clinic typically involve at least 3 Vets and at minimum US, X-ray & Endoscopy. Imaging Center usually have at least 5 Vets and +4 modalities (CT and/or MR, US, X-ray & Endoscopy). Vet School is like a hospital, with all departments and modalities. Zoo have Vets with hi-end equipment.

165 Products/Needs Some countries have hospital dedicated to some species:
Equine Hospital Dubai

166 Products/Needs Dubai Falcon Hospital

167 Products/Needs 20% of Equine Vets are going DR. Reason:
Portable (not heavy, small DR 810, suitcase) Easy to use (fast image available in 4-5 sec) Pre purchase Exams Increase Revenues (x4-5) Return On Investment (less than 1 year)

168 Products/Needs A dedicated Vet PACS is sometimes offered
with CR and DR solutions. PACS is a needed for the same reasons in the Vet market as it is for Human applications. Vet PACS differences with Human PACS patient name and … “owner”

169 Products/Needs Major Companies on Vet Market in Europe:
Eklin (DR Canon, PACS) Agfa (CR 30X without PACS) Kodak (CR 140, 120) FUJI (CR Capsula without PACS) Konica (CR Regius) via SCIL (DR Canon, PACS available)

170 Products/Needs Major Companies on Vet Market in Europe:
IDEXX (CR, DR, PACS) VetRay (CR, DR) iCRco (CR) Esaote (MR)

171 Products/Needs IDEXX PACS

172 Products/Needs IDEXX : CR, DR and PACS

173 Applications Dysplasia : Abnormal formation of dog’s the hip joint

174 Applications

175 Application Regulation may differ in some countries, but in Europe, Dysplasia exam must be printed on 14x17” film. Each exam is send to a reader by the vet. This reader is mandated by the regulatory body. Most of the time vets makes this exam but most of them are referrals, imaging centers, Vet School.

176 Applications Horse : Pre Purchase Exams

177 Applications Samples of Pre Purchase Exam

178 Applications Each horse need around 20 shots that mean 20 films/visit.
Vets without Digital Radiography need 3h to make this exam but with Digital he need less than 30min. More visit in a day and more money that is the reason why the investment is pay back in less than 1 year. With Digital radiography Vets are making around 10 visits/day.

179 Applications MR at Vet School of Lyon in France

180 Applications Printing is an issue. Why?
Equine Vets need to print to make all the films on a file and give it to the buyers. Horizon is the best product to fit the need of this kind of customer because Equine Vets print only on 8x10’ films (lower consumable cost). We can put also Horizon on a car to print onsite.

181 Applications CR Proscan Could be Horizon…. Fuji Van - CR XG1

182 Applications Virtua can be added to Horizon.
Vet gives a CD/DVD to the owners and films to referrals clinics or for some exams (Dysplasia). Film consumption will decrease sharply as demand for CD/DVD grows.

In inkjet printing, the ink solution is sprayed onto a disc surface that is specially designed to receive, hold and absorb the ink droplets.  The technology produces photographic quality results for sophisticated, multi-color, high-resolution graphics, and images on your DVDs and CDs. Taiyo Yuden (Codonics) Media DOES NOT SMEAR Cost effective Direct Thermal Thermal printing employs a heat transfer ribbon that bonds the images to be printed directly onto the thermal printable DVD or CD.  Costs more Not scalable – use an entire ribbon for any print Not great at high quality images More difficult to use –loading ribbon/risk of ribbon breaking Jam on one pass wastes all three passes of ribbon

All converted to Patient Report object XML out by default. Adding new inputs is relatively simple. Only Physician Discs receive reports.

289 Health Level 7 HL7 is a Standards Organization
Virtua has a limited HL7 Listener Server. Hospitals have a very flexible interface engine. Hospital must configure the interface engine to send report messages to Virtua. This configuration is either time consuming or costly.
