3 DRA2 DRA2 offers a method for assessing and documenting primary students’ development as readers over time. DRA2 provides teachers with information that helps them determine each student’s instructional and/or independent reading level and identify what the student needs to learn. DRA2 assess reading engagement, oral reading fluency, and comprehension. *

10 DRA2 How might the DRA2 be more beneficial than DRA1?
Facilitators should highlight the shift to include writing as a component. Refer to FAQ on page 140 teacher's guide-"Does Writing in the DRA2 give an accurate portrayal of comprehension. Also refer to page 10-Rationale for Change, box 4- "Most state assessments require students to respond to different types of questions and prompts in writing..."
