5. 5 www.understandquran.com Broken Plurals جمع مُكَسَّر Any plural that does not follow the law of “ ون ” or “ ين ” (as we studied earlier, for example: plural of مُسْلِم is مُسلِمُون، مُسْلِمِين ) i.e., it has broken the law! Therefore, it is called “Broken Plural.”  نَفْس : Soul (plural: أَنْفُس، نُفُوس )  ذَنْب : sin (plural: ذُنُوب )

We will have to learn each of those 21 verb forms separately, ex: zalamtu, zulman, tazlimu, yazlimoon, etc.  Pure Grammar will make the course too boring and cumbersome. For example, if we analyze the Grammar part of today’s Du’aa, it will take us hours of ‘dry’ exercise.
