Non-profit and state funded organization Association of over 650 library members Provide services from Continuing Education and grant assistance to leadership and innovation Learning Organization Foundation of our KM Initiative Team based work structure

Objectives - start internal then take KM to members Outcomes reached Knowledge sharing among NSLS staff Awareness and education of staff and members about KM Capturing and making knowledge retrievable is already taking shape Expected Outcomes Increasing NSLS’s effectiveness, efficiency, and level of service to members .

Internal directory of staff experts on particular topics Allows staff to more efficiently help our member libraries Future plans are to include member experts in the directory Consulting Knowledge Base Recordable, retrievable, and searchable knowledge base of staff consultations with members Increase the level of service to members and prevent duplication of work Identifying additional member needs Online Community Networks and Communities of Practice Using COP practices on our established networking groups Three pilot groups testing in-house developed software

8 Supporting Projects Hot Washes Meeting Enhancements
What went right, what went wrong, and what were the lessons learned Guidelines and a standard form were created for staff Hot Washes will be archived on staff Intranet Meeting Enhancements Examine the current function of staff meetings Create basic ideas that will enhance the sharing, capturing, and use of knowledge Intranet and Staff Shared Directory Foundation of all pilot projects and for capturing, accessing, and using knowledge Renovation of the Intranet and shared directory
