Noah: A large population occurred and humans had become wicked, so God told Noah that He was to destroy the life but that Noah (the truly righteous person of the time) would be saved, along with his family and a pair of each kind of birds and animals and reptiles. Noah had three sons (Shem, Ham, and Japheth): from these three sons of Noah came all the nations of the earth. God promised to never send another flood to destroy the earth. The end of Genesis.

23 Bible Study 3. The New Testament 1) Summary
Lesson 13-Chrismas Day in the Morning Bible Study 3. The New Testament 1) Summary 2) The Birth of Jesus Christ

24 To be continued on the next page.
Lesson 13-Chrismas Day in the Morning Bible Study Short Summary Jesus Christ's life (from the virgin birth to His ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection) is the basis for the four Gospels —the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Jesus taught to love others as much as yourself and to love God as the one and only God. Jesus performed many miracles and healings, described the Kingdom of Heaven, and told people how to live as God wished them to live. Jesus' many story-illustrations were used to direct the people with things familiar to them. Jesus selected twelve disciples (since there were 12 "tribes" of Israel) to help Him and to spread the Word of God. To be continued on the next page.

25 To be continued on the next page.
Lesson 13-Chrismas Day in the Morning Bible Study After Christ's death and resurrection, Paul became converted to Christianity and extended the teachings to the Gentiles (Greeks, Romans, and other non-Jews), accounting for the early, rapid growth of Christianity in spite of great persecution of the believers. Jesus' death and resurrection and His expected return at the "last days" were told by Paul. Life after death was described by Paul (1 Corinthians 15: 35-58), with a new, non-earthly body. The Revelation and other writings address the "last days" with Christians given life in heaven and others given to "the Lake of Fire" (hell). To be continued on the next page.

26 Lesson 13-Chrismas Day in the Morning
Bible Study Conflict with religious leaders (Pharisees and Sadducees) led to His crucifixion (death on the cross) after it was approved by Roman leaders. (At the time of Jesus, Rome ruled the Jewish people, who longed for freedom.) Jesus Christ's death/sacrifice led to the: New Covenant (contract) of God with all people (Jews and Gentiles [non-Jews]) (1) Written in their minds and hearts (2) All who believe on Him are forgiven by Jesus Christ's sacrifice (by His blood) to take away their sins. The end of Summary.

27 To be continued on the next page.
Lesson 13-Chrismas Day in the Morning Bible Study MATTHEW: The male lineage of Jesus Christ is given, from Abraham to King David to Joseph. Jesus means "savior", and Christ means "Messiah". The name, Immanuel, meaning "God with us", is also given to Jesus Christ. Jesus' birth to Mary was after her conception from the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1: 20)—VIRGIN BIRTH. The story is told (Matthew 1) of Jesus being born in Bethlehem and being visited by wise men (Magi) from the east that brought presents of gold, incense, and myrrh. Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus went to Egypt to escape from King Herod's plot to kill the baby. After Herod's death, the family moved to Galilee and lived in Nazareth. To be continued on the next page.

28 The end of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Lesson 13-Chrismas Day in the Morning Bible Study The story is told of John the Baptist describing how he baptized people in the Jordon River while another will "... baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." (Matthew 3: 11) Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and was tempted in the wilderness by Satan—asked to turn stones into loaves, jump off the Temple roof, or accept the world rule from Satan, all of which Jesus did not do. The end of the birth of Jesus Christ.

29 Warm Up I. Do You Know? 1. What is Christmas?
Lesson 13- Christmas Day in the Morning Warm Up I. Do You Know? 1. What is Christmas? 2. Do you know some of the most popular Christmas customs? Mythological Sphinx and Oedipus:  Oedipus, the king famous for killing his father, Laius, and marrying his mother, Jocasta, answered the riddle of the sphinx before he became king of Thebes and started a family. When he ran into the sphinx, she asked him a riddle she did not expect him to answer: "What has four legs in the morning, two at noon, and three at night?" Oedipus answered the sphinx: "Man." And with that answer, he became king of Thebes. The sphinx responded by killing herself. Great Sphinx Statue in Egypt:  That may have been the end of the most famous, mythological sphinx, but there were other sphinxes in art and some of them still exist. The earliest is the sphinx statue in the desert sands at Giza, Egypt, a portrait of Pharaoh Khafre (fourth king of the 4th dynasty, c c B.C.). This -- the Great Sphinx -- has a lion body with a human head. Winged Sphinx:  The sphinx made its way to Asia where it gained wings. In Crete, the winged sphinx appears on artifacts from the 16th century B.C. Around the 15th century B.C., the sphinx statues became female, often depicted sitting on their haunches. Christmas Day—December, the 25th—which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of the Christian religion, is the biggest and the best-loved holiday throughout the Christian world. It is a time of warmth and gaiety, love and laughter, hospitality and good will. Today, it’s a time for people from far distance to gather with their families.
