7 Estimation of Demand Projections Major customers are requested for demand projections from each supply point every two years, including the potential impact of water conservation and water demand management initiatives Information is collated and evaluated per supply point Holistic overview is obtained and compared to Rand Water’s projections based on our demographic projection model that takes into account rate of increase in population, urbanisation, industrialisation and water usage statistics. 8 Development of 15 - 20 year Infrastructure Development Plan Based on the projected demands, which are reviewed and updated every 2 years, the following analyses are undertaken and the 15 to 20 year Infrastructure Development Report is prepared: –Timing of the next major incremental increase in abstraction and purification capacity –Hydraulic network analyses of Rand Water’s infrastructure, at 5 yearly increments, to determine its capability to satisfy the projected demands from customers Rand Water and MDGs
