3 Purpose of the Study How do the standards contained in the cross disciplinary skills section of the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards compare to what is currently taught in a range of entry-level Career and Technical Education (CTE) course areas at Texas institutions of higher education?

4 Difference between Studies The Phase II Analysis compared courses in four subject areas to the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards, content and cross-disciplinary skills The CTE analysis compares a representative sample of Career and Technical Education courses to the cross-disciplinary standards only

5 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Alignment Analysis Introduction to Computers (ITSC 1301) Introduction to Computers (ITSC 1401) Computer Applications I (POFI 1301) Basic CAD (DFTG 1309) Technical Drafting (DFTG 1405) Principles of Management (BMGT 1303) Introduction to Accounting I (ACNT 1303) Business English (POFT 1301) Principles of Marketing (MRKG 1311)

6 CTE Course Nominations  CR Special Advisors at community and technical colleges nominated 211 courses for the analysis  Instructors at 47 institutions completed 157 course submissions, which included completing a course profile, comparing the CRS to the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their course, responding to a set of additional open-ended questions about the course and uploading course documents.
