10 The Temple of Jerusalem was once located atop one of Mt. Moriah's higher peaks It is where the Dome of the Rock stands today Jerusalem sits upon the southern spur of a plateau and is surrounded on all sides by valleys Those on the north are less pronounced than those on the other three sides The principal two valleys are known as: "Kidron Valley" - divides the Mount of Olives from the city "Valley of Hinnom," - runs directly south on the western side of the city

18 Western Wall The section of the Western supporting wall of the Temple Mount which has remained intact since the destruction of the Second Jerusalem Temple (70 CE) It became a center of mourning over the destruction of the Temple and Israel's exile Symbolizes communion with the memory of Israel's former glory and the hope for its restoration Also known as the "Wailing Wall".

21 The surrounding walls date to the rule of the Ottoman Sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566) Work began on them in 1537 and was not completed until 1541 One of the closed gates is the Golden Gate, located above ground level and below the Temple Mount According to Jewish tradition, when the Messiah comes, he will enter Jerusalem through this gate
