1 Human Today we’re going to make a Human box and whisker plot!

2 Step One! 9 students will get in order from shortest to tallest! (smallest to the left)

3 Step Two! Which student is our median? Median

4 Hmmmm…. Now we’ve separated the class into 2 halves. The short half and the tall half Median

5 Step Three! We need to find the students that are quartiles…any guess what that means? Median

6 Hmmmm… Now we’ve found the middle of the short half and the middle of the tall half. Lower Quartile Upper Quartile Median

7 Hmmmm… In a box and whisker plot, the quartiles are the edges of our box! Lower Quartile Upper Quartile Median

8 Step Seven! Now we need to find the students that are our endpoints! Lower Quartile Upper Quartile Median

9 Hmmmm… Our endpoints are connected with segments to the box just like whiskers! ALL DONE! Return to your seats. Lower Quartile Upper Quartile Median

10 Sooooo…what did we just do? We make box-and-whisker plots to show data with a visual representation! Just follow these 5 easy steps! 1.Put your data in order (from least to greatest) 2.Find the median 3.Find the Lower and Upper Quartile 4.Find the Endpoints (maximum and minimum) 5.Draw!
