2 Sabbath: (In conflict with Societal agenda)  Rest for the land;  For the worker;  To observe the existence of God and His Laws)  It was not that God needed rest, but that He choose rest.

3 Who is your FINAL AUTHORITY?  THE UNINTENTIONAL VIOLATION: (vs.23)  Mark 2:23-28 23 Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. The human need or the ceremonial rules?  Lesson: The human need or the ceremonial rules?

4 Who is your FINAL AUTHORITY?  THE UNDERMINING OF THE CRITICS: (vs.24) If the Sabbath is so necessary in their lives; why are they not in worship at the Temple?  Lesson: If the Sabbath is so necessary in their lives; why are they not in worship at the Temple?

5 Who is your FINAL AUTHORITY?  THE UPHOLDING OF A MODEL LIFE: (vs.25,26) David was one of their hero’s in the faith; Jesus is Lord over David; not viewed with respect and honor.  Lesson: David was one of their hero’s in the faith; Jesus is Lord over David; not viewed with respect and honor.

6 Who is your FINAL AUTHORITY?  UNDERSTANDING JESUS’ POINTS: (vs.27,28)  People  People in relationship with God is more important than rules and regulations:  Sabbath  Sabbath is only helpful when one is in relationship with Jesus (like the disciples)  Condemnation  Condemnation causes one to miss the intent of Sabbath; Rest for Relationship. Lesson:  John 3:17,18 ;Romans 8:1 ;I John 3:20,21
