If one desires to see someone continue enjoying an advantage or a blessing NASIHAH virute If one simply aspires to have the same advantage as someone else GHIBTAH virute Power of Passion Or Power of Anger Or Both HASAD (JEALOUSY) If one desires that someone’s advantage or blessing be taken away from him VICE The Holy Prophet (saaw) said: “A mu'meen yagbith (ghibtah) while a munafiq yahsud (hasad)”

3. RESULT HASAD (JEALOUSY) Deserves chastisement both in this world & hereafter VICE Finds no peace in life Destroys all the good works one has done The Holy Prophet (saaw) said: “Jealousy consumes virtues as fire comsumes wood”

4. CURE/ TREATMENT HASAD (JEALOUSY) Concentrate on the evil effects of Powers of Passion and Anger Contemplate the negative psychological & spiritual effects of jealousy on one’s self & to note that it doesn’t effect the others Try to create within one’s self the virtue of Nasihah. In the beginning, it may be necessary to impose upon one’s self the attitude necessitated by this virtue not withstanding his inner inclinations to the contrary. Practice continuously, till jealousy is overcome & Nasihah becomes established as trait of character.
