2 What are Metric Conversions?
Sometimes we need to change from one measurement to another. This is usually done because the unit that is used is either too big or too small for that type of measurement.

3 Sometimes the number is too big for the unit being measured.
525,568 millimeters Sometimes the number is too big for the unit being measured.

4 Sometimes the number is too small for the unit being measured
km Sometimes the number is too small for the unit being measured

5 How many jumps does it take?
Hecto 100 unit Deka 10 unit Basic 1 unit Deci 0,1 unit Centi 0,01 unit Milli 0,001 unit How do you convert a unit 1st – Determine your starting point. 2nd – Count the “jumps” to your ending point. 3rd – Move the decimal the same number of jumps in the same direction. 1 Meters Liters Grams 1 4 km = _________ m 1 Starting Point Ending Point 1 How many jumps does it take? 4. 1 __. 2 __. 3 __. = 4000 m
