LEADERSHIP

NEH CH 6 STEDFAST

STEDFAST 1 Cor 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

NEH CH 6 STEDFAST unwavering or determined in purpose, loyalty

STEDFAST The Distractions The Decisions The Delivery

DISTRACTIONS #1) Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;) ) vs 2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

DECISION Vs 3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

DISTRACTIONS 2 Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

DISTRACTIONS # 2 ) vs 4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

DECISION Vs 3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

DISTRACTIONS 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye STEDFAST, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

DISTRACTIONS #3 ) vs 5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand; 6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words. 7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.

DECISION Vs 8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.

DISTRACTIONS Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

DISTRACTIONS #4 ) vs 10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.

DECISION Vs 11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in. 12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. 13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

DISTRACTIONS Rom 16:17 ¶Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

DELIVERY In December Nehemiah got a report about his people and it bothered him. In April after four months of prayer he asked an impossible favor to a pagan King to return and build the city walls and gates of his former city and leave his responsibilities to the King. In the same month he left and passed through a treacherous wilderness 1000 Miles, the same wilderness that Ezra in the group before him had passed through and refused a guard which he now took. Upon arriving safely he survey’s the wall and gates in disarray and the people scattered and not busy about the work he organizes a building crew who begins to build. Immediately opposition comes from outside and the work is ambushed to the point that men must work with one hand on the tool and another on the sword.

DELIVERY Then opposition comes from within his own ranks and his people begin starving and taxing each other and Nehemiah energizes the people to stay busy and repay that which was taken and continue to build. Again the enemy tries to stop the work by pulling him away to the point that a man of the Clergy who he trust tries to trick him into the temple to “hide” from those that would take his life. All this on top of the day to day struggles and complaints of the people and feeding 150 Jews and rulers at his table each night besides those strangers that he fed as well and building a 2.5 mile wall. And 52 DAYS LATER in September he FINISHES THE WORK. It took them longer to get to the Work than it did to finish the work.

DELIVERY 15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. Minus the Sabbaths that is 45 Days
