“Football/Soccer” -*may refer to one of a number of team sports which all involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with the foot to score a goal. -*it is a game with two teams of eleven players, played over the course of 90 minutes. This period is split into two 45-minute halves..

Soccer/football is one of the most popular sports in Europe and the Americas. It has a vivid and interesting history in the world of sports. Early evidence of soccer being played as a sport finds occurrence in China during the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. In China, it was during the Han dynasty that people dribbled leather balls by kicking it into a small net. Recorded facts also support the fact that Romans and Greeks used to play ball for fun and frolic. Some facts point to Kyoto in Japan where kicking of ball was a popular sport.

It is said that early growth of the modern soccer started in England. Some amusing facts even mention that the first ball used was the head of some Danish brigand. It is said that during medieval times, the old form of soccer used to allow many ill practices like kicking, punching, biting and gouging. The main aim was to carry the ball to a target spot. People grew so fond of the game that they would throng the field all day long.

Field of play Football can be played on a natural or artificial (e.g. Astroturf) surface. However, the shape of the field must be rectangular, with the dimensions of 90-120 meters long by 45-90 meters wide. Notably, the guidelines for international matches are stricter (100-110 meters x 64-75 meters).

Number of players One of the eleven is classified as the goalkeeper and permitted to handle the ball in his team’s penalty area. The eleven players are supplemented by the option to bring on a maximum of three substitutes from a pre-decided list of three to seven players (the number of substitutes permitted is slightly higher for international friendly matches).

In order to bring on a substitute, the referee must first be informed and then there has to be a break in the play (for example, a free-kick or a throw-in). The substitute then comes on as a replacement for one of the 11 current players.

Referee -has control of the game and is generally the final authority in all decisions. Umpire -Monitor the legality of play on the line of scrimmage with a special emphasis on offensive holding and illegal linemen down field Head Linesman- Watch for line of scrimmage violations like off sides and encroachment Line Judge- Assist the head linesman on in making illegal motion, illegal shifts, offside and encroachment calls Back Judge- Make sure the defensive team has no more than 11 players on the field Field Judge- Keep track of the play clock and call delay of game if it expires Side Judge- Rule on the legality of catches and pass interference penalties

Goalkeeper-the Goalkeeper's job is to defend his team's goal and he usually stays close to his goal. Fullbacks -Along with the Goalkeeper, they have the primary job of stopping the opponents from scoring. Midfielders- play between the Fullbacks and the Forwards. They are often in the "Middle Third" of the field. There can be "Offensive Midfielders" who play closer to the Forwards and "Defensive Midfielders" (also called "Stoppers") who play closer to the Fullbacks

Forwards-play closer to the opponent's goal, which is the goal guarded by the opposing Goalkeeper. The Forwards are the primary scorers, although Midfielders sometimes score and at older ages Fullbacks even occasionally score. Sweeper- will play behind the Fullbacks and a Stopper will play between the Fullbacks and the Midfielders. These positions add additional layers of defenders and give you defensive strength in the Center of the field. Good stopper- can be worth 2 goals per game to Rec teams, and is the most important position on the field for many Rec teams.

There are many rules and penalties that are enforced during a football game. Most football penalties result in a loss or gain of yardage depending on whether the penalty is against the offense or the defense. The severity of the penalty determines the number of yards. Most penalties are 5 or 10 yards, but some personal foul penalties result in 15 yards. Also, pass interference can result in a penalty that matches the length of the intended pass. The team that did not commit the penalty has the right to decline the penalty. We won't list or detail ever possible football infraction, but here are some of the more common football penalties

False Start: When a football player on the offense moves just prior to the snap. This is a five yard penalty. Note that one back on the offense can legally be "in motion" at the time of the snap. Offside: If a player from the offense or defense is on the wrong side of the line of scrimmage at the time of the snap. A defensive player can cross the line of scrimmage as long as they get back before the snap, but if they touch an offensive player they can be called for encroachment. Holding: When a player grabs a football player without the ball with the hands or hooks him or tackles him. Pass Interference: When a defender contacts a pass receiver after the ball is in the air to prevent him from catching the ball. This is up to the referee to determine. If the contact is before the ball is in the air it will be called defensive holding. Note that pass interference can also be called on the offense if the defender has position and is trying to catch the ball.

Facemask: To protect the football players, it is illegal to grab another player's facemask. Roughing the passer or kicker: To protect kickers and quarterbacks, who are very vulnerable when they are passing or kicking the ball, players are not allowed to run into them after the ball has been thrown or kicked. Intentional Grounding: When the passer throws a pass nowhere near an eligible receiver strictly to avoid being sacked. Ineligible Receiver Downfield: When one of the offensive players that is not an eligible receiver is more than 5 yards downfield from the line of scrimmage during a forward pass.

What difficulties if any did you encounter in making slideshow? Pavia Princess Mae: for me in choosing topic and on planning how to present it in a nice way that others will appreciate it. Villanosa Raquel Aisa: in choosing topic

Villanosa Floribelle: in planning how to make it presentable. Tiongco Mary June: choosing and planning because all of us have different ideas.
