The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Presentation presents changes made to the Spillman Public Safety software.
New, user-friendly architecture, designed to give you a modern interface with standardized features and tools.
The first of several major releases that will convert modules to the updated architecture.
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Release Notes present changes made to the Spillman Public Safety software and documentation for Sentryx version 6.0. Information intended specifically for the agency’s Spillman Applications Administrator (SAA) is labeled “SAA.” All other information is intended for general users as well as SAAs.
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 release contains two types of architecture, Classic Spillman and Sentryx. The two types of architecture have different features in some cases. These release notes explain the differences in the two types of architecture.
Sentryx, Spillman’s new, user-friendly architecture, is designed to give customers a modern interface with standardized features and tools. Spillman Sentryx 6.0 is the first of several major releases that will convert modules to the updated architecture.
For new modules and features, these release notes contain only a brief explanation of the differences. For more detailed and comprehensive information about the functionality of the new software, refer to the Spillman Sentryx 6.0 documentation.

Classic Spillman
Spillman has changed the look and feel of screens in modules using Classic Spillman architecture. The following screen is an example of the new look and feel for classic Spillman screens.
Sentryx
Screens in the Sentryx modules have been designed in a user-friendly architecture. The following screen is an example of the new Sentryx screens.

4. Some of the new features for Spillman Sentryx 6.0 screens include:

Tabs on screens to view associated records and information.

5. New File Capture Feature
You can use the File Capture feature to:
Protect files with improved security.
Attach files through the Menu bar or the File icon on the toolbar.
Attach multiple files using a drag-and-drop operation.
You can use the File Capture feature to store, organize, and access files (for example, photographs, audio recordings, documents) and attach them to a particular record.

6. New Visual Involvements Feature
The new Visual Involvements feature can be accessed from either Classic Spillman or Spillman Sentryx.
Spillman Technologies has added the ability to navigate involvements visually. Through the Visual Involvements map, you can see how each record is related and access more information on each involved record through links on the map.

With Admin Mode, you can customize the content on Sentryx screens. For more information, see “Admin Mode.”
Advanced Sort Features for Detail Fields in List View
Advanced sorting gives you more sorting capabilities in Sentryx lists. The advanced sort features allow you to:
Group list information by a selected column.
Filter list information.
Calculate a summary for the list information.
Add or remove fields on the list.
Advanced Searching Capabilities
Many Sentryx screens allow you to use advanced searching features. You can add, modify, and save common searches for your agency. See the Sentryx Quick Cards or the Sentryx Help for more information.
Screen Tabs
Many Sentryx screens include tabs with related information. Tabs allow you to add and view additional information related to the current screen. Tabs keep information grouped and can eliminate the need to open additional screens.
Standardized Shortcut Keys
The Sentryx shortcut keys have been updated to conform with standard Windows shortcut keys. See the Sentryx Quick Cards or the Sentryx Help for more information.

8. Administration Manager
The Administration Manager allows you to manage all system settings in one central location. From this screen, an administrator can accomplish most of the standard administration functions of the Spillman system.
In Spillman Sentryx 6.0, you have the choice of using the Classic Spillman administration screens or the new Sentryx Administration Manager. To access the Sentryx Administration Manager, use either of the following methods:
Select Administration > Administration Manager from the menu bar on any Sentryx screen.
Enter adminutil at the command line.

The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Agencies feature provides access to all Sentryx agencies.
This screen provides a simple tool to manage the agencies with which your agency interacts.
Use the Agencies screen to add or delete agency information. You can use the Agencies screen to:
Add new agencies along with agency information to your system.
Delete or expire agencies from your system.
Filter the displayed agencies using the Quick Filter field.

11. Code Table Admin Feature
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Jail Code Table Administration feature provides access to all Sentryx code tables in one location.
The Code Table Administration screen simplifies the code table input process. You can use the Code Table Administration to:
Access all code tables through an organized tree view.
Locate code tables quickly using the Quick Search filter.
Remove Sentryx codes so that they do not show up in drop-down lists.
Save removed codes to the Expired Codes area for later use.

12. Partitioning Feature
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Partitioning feature includes a new Partitioning screen that simplifies your agency’s security setup.
The Partitioning screen simplifies the process of partitioning tables and screens in the software. You can use the Partitioning screen to:
View which tables are currently partitioned.
Partition all tables or partition selected tables.
Unpartition all tables or unpartition selected tables.

13. System Privileges Feature
The Spillman 6.0 System Privileges feature provides a new screen for viewing and working with system privileges.
The Syprivs screen simplifies the process of assigning system privileges to groups or users. You can use the System Privileges screen to:
Set system privileges using check boxes.
View all settings for a particular level on one screen.
Allow agency level definitions.
Display the screens for which system privileges can be set.
Show all privileges for a given user, regardless of level defined.
Allow administration privileges on each screen individually.

14. Users Feature
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Users feature provides a way to manage your agency’s list of users.
Use the User screen to add, modify, and delete user information. You can use the User screen to:
Add new user information.
Add secondary agency information for a user.
View expired user records.

15. Settings Editor Feature
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Settings feature provides a way to set and change system settings in the Spillman 6.0 software.
The Settings Editor is designed to simplify the setup process for your system. You can use the Settings screen to:
View and edit all Sentryx settings.
Assign settings by level (World, Agency, Group, and User).
Associate levels with a particular color and icon.
Settings include the module and a description in the name.
Settings are categorized by type, such as interger, boolean, or string.
Filter the displayed information by Default, World, Agency, Group, or User settings.
Select the Show hidden settings check box to view hidden settings.
Select a null value for a setting.
Lock a setting at the desired level for an agency.

16. Modules Feature
The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Modules feature provides an easy way to perform common administration tasks.
Use the Modules screen to perform certain Sentryx administration functions. You can use the Modules screen to:
Set up directories.
Set up and maintain the File Capture module.
Perform common jail administration tasks.
Set up and maintain the Imaging module.

Using the Column Settings shortcut menu
The Column Settings shortcut menu allows you to quickly determine the settings for the CAD status columns. Right-click on any CAD status column header to access the menu.
Select any of the column settings on the shortcut menu to activate that setting. The available settings include:
Wrap Text allows text to wrap to the next line in this column.
Remove This Column removes the selected column from the window.
Column Chooser opens the column chooser window and specifies the columns you want to display in the status window.
Sort Ascending sorts the column by ascending values.
Sort Descending sorts the column by descending values.
No Sort returns the columns to the default CAD Sort Order setting.
Refreshing call comments
The software now refreshes the call comments with each CAD refresh. This enhancement affects the Call Comments and the View Comments windows.
When refreshing call comments, the software:
Displays new call comments in red text.
Changes the red text to black when you click the Post and Refresh button.
SAA: Setting up wreckers to auto-complete
You can use the wreckers to auto-complete setting (wracmplt) to determine whether the software completes the wrecker’s assignment when you close the call. If set to yes, the software:
Searches for active wreckers assigned to the call.
Updates the wrecker’s status to INSRV and removes it from WRACTV.
Updates the log and the wrecker’s position in the wrecker rotation.

18. Sentryx Geobase Module
Sentryx Geobase simplifies the process of maintaining your geobase by retrieving information directly from a GIS server.
In Spillman Sentryx 6.0, your agency can choose to use the Sentryx Geobase or the Classic Geobase module. Sentryx Geobase simplifies the process of maintaining your geobase by retrieving information directly from a GIS server.
You can use the Sentryx Geobase module to:
Access more address information during address validation.
Retrieve more accurate and up-to-date information by communicating address information directly from ESRI instead of loading address data into Sentryx.
Save maintenance time by eliminating the gbload process.
Map address candidates if you have the Pin Mapping or CAD Mapping module.
Maintain addresses in Sentryx by validating system addresses with ArcView.

19. New Imaging Module
The Imaging module helps you standardize the image capture process for records and lineups.
With the Imaging module, you can simplify the process of adding images to records. You can use the new features in the Sentryx Imaging module to:
Capture groups of images at one time.
Capture uniform mug shots using a live feed video with eye-level and face-width guidelines.
Capture images with a simplified process.
Organize images automatically by first, second, and other images.
Determine which users have editing capabilities.
Crop images automatically to NIST standards.
Import multiple images into the system using the drag-and-drop feature.
View the images that you are processing as thumbnail images.
Black out or hide images by system privileges.
Reassign thumbnails with one click.
Lineups
In Spillman Sentryx 6.0, the Lineup feature has been updated. You can use the lineup enhancements to:
Create a lineup automatically based on an incident or a suspect.
Set a default range that the software uses to search for date of birth, height, weight, or the suspect’s physical description.

Display an expanded view of inmate information, such as release date, booking date, security class, judicial status, and image.

22. Sentryx Jail: Accounting
The new Jail Accounting feature simplifies your agency’s accounting records.
View a log of every transaction from all accounts.
Search for and view all checks written from the system.
Input information for deposits, withdrawals, and transfers at the Inmate Transaction Dialog or the Transaction Dialog screens.
Partition all accounting screens.
Accounting
The new Jail Accounting feature simplifies your agency’s accounting records. You can use the accounting features to:
View a log of every transaction from all accounts including accounts receivable and payable transactions.
Search for and view all checks written from the system.

You can set up your agency’s accounting system using the Bank Accounts, Master Accounts, and Transaction Type screens.
Track bank accounts, including name, account number, and routing number.
Allow or prohibit check printing per bank account.
Name each internal account.

Track bank accounts, including name, account number, and routing number.

Attach one or more internal accounts to a single bank account.
Allow or prohibit inmate accounts per master account.
Create a different name for the inmate account.
Set the upper and lower limit of the inmate accounts.
Allow or prohibit negative balances.
Design transactions and define default accounts and transaction types.
Using the Inmate Account Register screen
The Inmate Account Register and Jail Account Register screens display the account information in one location.
Use the Inmate Account Register screen to view account transactions. You can use the Inmate Account Register screen to:
View account information, such as bank account number, list of transactions, and the available balance.
Open the Inmate Register screen to view transaction details by clicking the Open Transaction button.
Add a new transaction by clicking the Add New Transaction button.
Close the inmate account by pressing the Close Account button.
Using the Jail Account Register screen
The Jail Account Register screen displays the account information of a selected account through a specified time period.
You can use the Jail Account Register screen to:
View account transactions.
View the current balance, extended balance (including payables and receivables), and cash on hand of a specific account.
Specify the date range that you want to view.

Admin Mode provides the ability to give partial administrator functionality to specific users within Sentryx.

Click the flag link to open the flag record and view the description and instructions. Rest on the flag to display the flag description.
Format the flag instruction text as your agency desires.
Set priority for the order in which the flags are displayed on the Inmate screen and Inmate Name block.
Partition flag records.

The Jail Merge feature searches for and merges duplicate inmate records.

Schedule a merge to occur daily, weekly, or monthly at a given time if you set the Auto Merge feature.
Run the merge completely within the application so that you do not need to schedule an operating system process.
Log the user, time, and system-generated notes of all merges.
Prevent merging of two active or concurrent bookings.

The new Jail Assessment feature replaces the current Risk Assessment, Initial Inmate Assessment, Medical Assessment, and Classification programs.

Log all responses for each inmate assessment.
Create dynamic assessments that are based on the previous answer.
Create multiple answers per question.
Add unlimited questions to an assessment.
Add notes to any question.

The Agency Billing feature replaces the billing feature in the current software.

Pre-book an inmate that will arrive at a later time.

The new Non-Custody Booking screen provides a simple interface to add arrest and offense information to an individual without proceeding to a full booking. You can use the Non-Custody Booking screen to:
Create a booking without adding a Name record.
View relevant booking information, arrest information, and related offenses on the same screen.
Create a Booking and an Arrest record.
Display all arrest, arrest circumstances, and offense information in each respective tab.
Provide access to all Offense records.
Create full bookings from a non-custody booking by clicking the Full Book button.
Retain the non-custody booking when a full booking is created.
Display your agency’s data without affecting the data of the main jail or other agencies.

The Jail Scheduled Events feature includes an Event Viewer screen to display events for a selected date range.

The Event Viewer screen displays events for a selected area and date range. You can use the Event Viewer screen to:
Display the scheduled event time, date, inmate name, event type, and location.
View reminders as events are approaching.
Select Open, Dismiss, or Snooze from the event reminders.
Display events that are past due in red text.
Record the last time an event was logged.
Verify the officer, event type, inmate, location, start time, and end time on the Post Event screen.
Record the inmate’s current location when posting an event.

Include information on the officers involved, inmates involved, offense codes, circumstance, dispositions, main narrative, supplemental narrative, and M.O.
View all details from the main screen.
Record the location of the event.
Partition Incident records.

The Log feature can still be used to record all the daily occurrences in the jail, but new enhancements have been added to make it more usable.
Access the Log screen from the Log tab on the Inmate screen.
Include multiple officers and inmates on the same log entry.
Display the related Jail Incident number.

The Spillman Sentryx 6.0 Jail Log feature is an enhancement of the current Jail Log system. The log feature can still be used to record all the daily occurrences in the jail, but new enhancements have been added to make it more usable. You can use the Log enhancements to:

Include multiple officers and inmates on the same log entry.
Include the inmate’s role (defined in a code table) in the log entry.
Display the related Jail Incident number.
Record the location and ending date of the incident.

Configure the system to create jail incidents based on the log event type.
Store narratives in a separate detail table.

Access medical charts.
