Who are Alumni Council? The Alumni Council considers many factors in selecting new members, including geographic location, graduation year, and a demonstrated, ongoing interest in the College through volunteer service, participation in College- sponsored activities, and a consistent record of giving. What is Alumni Council? Alumni Council, the governing body of the Alumni Association, participates in a variety of activities to support students, alumni, and the College.

Goals Support the College Broaden participation of alumni with the College Strengthen Alumni Council programs

Mission Alumni Council provides a range of services to alumni, students, and the administration of Swarthmore College. Alumni Council fosters communication between the College and alumni. Alumni Council facilitates input from alumni to the College in the development of policies.

Vision Guided by the enduring values of Swarthmore College, Council will be a leader among College alumni organizations by providing an evolving range of services to alumni, students, and the College administration, and by informing and influencing policies to further the mission of the College.

Travel Reimbursement Policy & Charitable Contributions We ask that each of you to pay for your hotel room and travel costs at the time of the meeting. We will reimburse 100% of the rate negotiated by the College at the reserved hotel and up to $200 of your travel expenses. We will pay the cost of two nights at the hotel for most attendees, and three nights for those whose meeting schedule or travel times require their coming in on Thursday or staying over on Sunday. [Note: Should you choose to make reservations at a different hotel, you are responsible for the price difference.] Please refer to the Swarthmore College Alumni Council Travel Reimbursement Policy document attached as a PDF for instructions on submitting receipts for reimbursement and on donating reimbursements back to the College. Please refer to the Guidelines for Deducting Charitable Contributions document attached for information on deducting out-of-pocket expenses on your income tax return while performing volunteer work.
