7. Taysia Elzy Indianapolis, Indiana Cause of Death: Gunshot Date of Death: December 26, 2008 Age: 34 Taysia was shot, along with her boyfriend, by Christopher Conwell. It is believed that both were killed because of Taysia’s trans status. They were found dead in their apartment.

Cynthia Nicole Comayaguela, Honduras Cause of Death: Gunshots Date of Death: January 9, 2009 Age: 35 News sources believe that the killing may have been a result of her human rights work, particularly in defense of the transgender community. She was shot 3 times in the chest and once in the head by three unknown men in a blue car.

Police detained the man for two hours a few weeks prior to her death. Afterward, he was taken into custody as the murder suspect.

Other activists claim she was killed by the military police.

74. Christopher Jermaine Scott Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Cause of Death: Gunshots Date of Death: July 1, 2009 Age: 36 Christopher was found dead in a park clad in a blonde wig and pink clothing. He had been shot multiple times in the face and torso.

76. Cesar Torres El Paso, Texas Cause of Death: Blunt force trauma Date of Death: July 9, 2009 Age: 39 Cesar had cuts around his eyes, broken ribs, a broken nose, a ruptured liver, a wrenched neck, and several stab wounds.

77. Unknown Penang, Malaysia Cause of Death: Head trauma Date of Death: July 23, 2009 She was 27 years old and found lying in a pool of blood by a security guard. She was taken to a hospital where she died 12 hours later as a result of head injury.

86. Destiny Lauren London, England Cause of Death: Murder Date of Death: November 5, 2009 Age: 29 Destiny was found by police at her flat and died at the hospital 40 minutes later.
