2  COMMANDS:  Therefore I want the men in every place to pray – 1 Tim. 2:8a  Pray without ceasing – 1 Thess. 5:17  With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit – Eph. 6:18a  REASONS:  God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ -Luke 18:13b  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.- 1 Jn 1:9  I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin.- Ps. 32:5b  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." –Phil. 4:6  Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.- He. 4:16

4 The Approach of Faithful Men  David’s ability to face the intense rigors of Kingship came from starting each morning with prayer.  Daniel’s routine was followed strictly enough that wicked men were able to plan an elaborate conspiracy around the frequency and time of his prayers.  The narrative of Jesus’ ministry is punctuated by repeated appointments to find time to pray alone.
