David: A Man After God’s Own Heart “And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” {Acts 13:22}

David Loved God’s Word “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” {Psalm 119:97} “Therefore I love Your commandments More than gold, yes, than fine gold!” {Psalm 119:127} “My soul keeps Your testimonies, and I love them exceedingly.” {Psalm 119:167}

We Must Love God’s Word “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.” {John 12:48} “But Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’” {John 6:68} “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” {1 Corinthians 2:12}

David Hid God’s Word in His Heart “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You!” {Psalm 119:11} “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” {1 John 1:7} “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” {1 John 3:9}

David Loved to Praise God “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” {Psalm 139:14} “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD.’” {Psalm 122:1} “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” {Colossians 3:16}

David Confessed His Sins “For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.” {Psalm 51:3} “So David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the LORD...’” {2 Samuel 12:13} “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” {James 5:16} “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” {1 John 1:9}

David Guarded His Tongue “I said, ‘I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me.’” {Psalm 39:1} “But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” {James 3:8} “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.” {James 1:26}

David Hated Every False Way “Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.” {Psalm 119:104} “But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.” {Revelation 2:6} “These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.” {2 Peter 2:17-19}

David Loved Unity “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” {Psalm 133:1} “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” {John 13:34} “With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” {Ephesians 4:2,3}
