(Joh 9:1-9) And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

(Joh 20:30) And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of Godand that believing ye might have life through his name (Joh 20:31) But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

The Miracles 1-The miracle of water into wine (John 2:1-11) 2-Healing the noble man's son (John 4:46-53) 3-Healing the man at the pool (John 5:1-9) 4-Feeding the 5,000 (John 6:4-13) 5-Jesus walks on water (John 6:16-21) 6-Healing the blind man (John 9:1-12) 7-Raises the dead (John 11:30-44)

The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind (Psa 146:8) The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: in that day the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity (Isa 29:18) And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

(Joh 8:12) Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

hath blinded the minds should shine unto them (2Co 4:3-4) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

(Joh 9:1) And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

A. He was destined to be blind

having no hopewithout God (Eph 2:12) That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: (Eph 2:13) But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

eyes have they, but they see not (Psa 135:16) They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him (Joh 9:2-3) And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle the clay (Joh 9:6-7) When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

A. Christ designed new eyes

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened (Eph 1:18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

blind (Rev 3:17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see (Rev 3:18) I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

But he that lacketh these things is blind (2Pe 1:8-9) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

(Joh 9:7-9) And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

A. Christ’s directions to a new course

(Psa 40:1) I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. established my goings (Psa 40:2) He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. (Psa 40:3) And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

B. The direct influence of the results

(Psa 40:1) I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. (Psa 40:2) He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD (Psa 40:3) And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

C. The division that arose

there was a division among them (Joh 9:15-16) Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

(Joh 3:1) There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: (Joh 3:2) The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (Joh 3:3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

kingdom of God Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. kingdom of God kingdom of God kingdom of God is within you (Luk 17:20-21) And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
