1 1Malcolm Ellis - Tracker Meeting - 18th May 2006 Reconstruction Plans  Staged process of building up Reconstruction over the rest of this year  Will require modifications to DetModel/EngModel as we migrate to MiceModule.  Aron and I will be working on the TOF and SciFi code and once it is stable at a given level of reconstruction can be the basis for Rikard (e.g.) to work on the EmCal equivalent.  As usual, ignore CKOV until design is agreed and someone made available to work on it.  Next slide contains list of steps, each of which corresponds to a release of some description.  Time scale will depend on available resources.  First major milestone is the desire to have a fully G4MICE based reconstruction of the KEK test beam data for CM15.

4 4Malcolm Ellis - Tracker Meeting - 18th May 2006 Status of Modeling  New code developed over past few weeks based on scheme identified at Osaka software workshop.  First working version tagged two days ago with some sample files to describe the KEK Test Beam (known to be wrong).  Lara has agreed to test/debug the code and we will need help from the Osaka group to create the necessary files with the correct positions, dimensions, etc of the KEK setup.  Nice feature – new Application in G4MICE takes any model of this format and turns it into a HepRep format XML file which can be viewed (e.g. with WIRED).  Visualisation useful for debugging the configuration files (make sure that the model looks like the real setup) but will also turn into a cheap (but powerful) event display once we have reconstructed points, tracks, etc...

6 6Malcolm Ellis - Tracker Meeting - 18th May 2006 Potential Assistance  As seen from the first two slides there is a lot of work to be done and only some fraction of two people doing it.  Aron is coming to FNAL at the end of May to work with me, and I’m sure that will aid progress greatly.  Several things that will greatly help would be: u Someone to take over the decoding work. We have generated an Excel file with dozens of sheets that (should) contain all the information needed for a complete and correct decoding. We need to turn this into code and data-files. This a task for someone already familiar with C++ u We need to generate the files to model the KEK test beam setup. This requires no programming expertise, rather access to the measurements made in KEK and a quick brief on the file format (plain text). u There are a couple of key development tasks in the Sci Fi reconstruction (relating to geometry) that could be handled by someone else. They would need to be familiar with C++ and get up to speed with the basics of the G4MICE framework quickly.
