Basgan Jr. started the recovery procedure in the Court of Bucharest, claiming EUR 1.2 billion to PETROM SA in first line and to the Romanian State in subsidiary line. A settlement with PETROM should be concluded in September 2009, where 50% should be supported by the Romanian State as VAT exemption on behalf of PETROM. After recovering EUR one billion, the ex-senator Basgan Jr. would claim USD 150 billon to US Administration, based on the intellectual property rights arising from the US patent 2’103’137. The ex-senator plans were tremendously interrupted by the others three successors of Dr. Basgan (Constantin, Sorin & Angela Bazgan), who decided to sue Ion I.
