1 Office of Student and School Success Action Plan Reviews Essential Question: What defines a distinguished Student and School Success Action Plan? Learning Outcomes: Participants will use peer collaboration as a tool for new learning Participants will assess the quality of an Action Plan

2 STATE-LEVEL FEEDBACK 1) PEER REVIEW Participants collaborated to develop skills in reviewing written objectives and tasks Invitation extended to: principals, district leaders, ESD Student and School Success Leads, and Instructional Leadership Coaches 2) OSPI TEAM REVIEW Participants included: Student and School Success Staff, Instructional Leadership Coaches, and Technical Assistance Contractors with Specialized Expertise

5 REVIEWS: ITEMS TO THINK ABOUT… Planned objectives: Are all Seven Turnaround Principles addressed? Does the goal align to the indicator? Are the goal narratives written as S.M.A.R.T. goals? What is the quality of the goal? What are the expected outcomes of implementing this goal? What resources will you need to implement? What types of evidence will be needed to Are the tasks specific, sufficient, and realistic? Are the target completion dates sufficient and realistic? Are the tasks distributed to a variety of leadership team members? Fully implemented indicators Does the evidence provided support that the team has the indicator Fully implemented?; Effectively implemented? Is the description of continued work necessary supportive of the efforts needed to sustain implementation?

6 SMART GOALS FORMAT S.M.A.R.T. goals/objectives articulate both the evidence supporting the strategy and measurable outcomes for students and educators. The acronym “S.M.A.R.T.” is used to describe goals/objectives that are:  Specific,  Measurable,  Actionable/Attainable,  Realistic/Results-oriented, and  Timely/Time-bound

7 PEER REVIEW ACTIVITY Using the S.M.A.R.T rubric and the peer review activity packet with questions, complete a sample state feedback form. (see last page of activity packet) Be sure to include: 2 affirmations about the plan 2 ‘next steps’ for the team 2 questions to drive further discussion
