SUPPORTING THE MISSION

Counsels on Stewardship p. 15. In commissioning His disciples to go 'into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature, Christ assigned to men the work of extending the knowledge of His grace. But while some go forth to preach, He calls upon others to answer His claims upon them for offerings, with which to support His cause in the earth.

p. 15 cont’d He has placed means in the hands of men, that His divine gifts may flow through human channels in doing the work appointed us in saving our fellow men. This is one of God's ways of exalting man. It is just the work that man needs; for it will stir the deepest sympathies of his heart, and calls into exercise the highest capabilities of the mind.

Counsels on Stewardship p. 17. The power of God is manifested in the beating of the heart, in the action of the lungs, and in the living currents that circulate through the thousand different channels of the body

p. 17 cont’d We are indebted to Him for every moment of existence, and for all the comforts of life. The powers and abilities that elevate man above the lower creation are the endowment of the Creator.

Review & Herald., Dec. 7. 1886 p. 20. God is not dependent upon men for the advancement of His cause. He might have made angels the ambassadors of His truth. He might have made known His will,

P. 20 cont’d as He proclaimed the law from Sinai with His own voice. But in order to cultivate a spirit of benevolence in us. He has chosen to employ men to do this work.

P. 20 cont’d Every act of self-sacrifice for the good of others will strengthen the spirit of beneficence in the giver's heart, allying him more closely to the Redeemer of the world, who “was rich, yet for our sakes became poor, that we through His poverty might be rich."

P. 20 cont’d And it is only as we fulfil the divine purpose in our creation that life can be a blessing to us. All the good gifts of God to man will prove only a curse, unless he employs them to bless his fellow men, and for the advancement of God's cause in the earth. - R. & H., Dec. 7, 1886. p 20

P. 22 cont’d However large, however small the possessions of any individual, let him remember that it is his only in trust. For his strength, skill, time, talents, opportunities, and means, he must render an account to God. This is an individual work; God gives to us that we may become like Him, generous, noble, beneficent, by giving to others.

P. 22 cont’d Those who, forgetful of their divine mission, seek only to save or to spend in the indulgence of pride or selfishness, may secure the gains and pleasures of this world; but in God's sight, estimated by their spiritual attainments, they are poor, wretched, miserable, blind, naked. but in God's sight, estimated by their spiritual attainments, they are poor, wretched, miserable, blind, naked.

Councils on Stewardship p.35 God's people are called to a work that requires money and consecration. The obligations resting upon us hold us responsible to work for God to the utmost of our ability. He calls for undivided service, for the entire devotion of heart, soul, mind, and strength.

P. 35 Cont’d There are only two places in the universe where we can place our treasures, - in God's storehouse or in Satan's; and all that is not devoted to God's service is counted on Satan's side, and goes to strengthen his cause. The Lord designs that the means entrusted to us shall be used in building up His kingdom.

P. 35 cont’d His goods are entrusted to His stewards that they may be carefully traded upon, and bring back a revenue to Him in the saving of souls. These souls in their turn will become stewards of trust, cooperating with Christ to further the interests of God's cause.

Councils on Stewardship p.37. If our people had the love of God in the heart, if every church member were imbued with the spirit of self- sacrifice, there would be no lack of funds for home and foreign missions; our resources would be multiplied; a thousand doors of usefulness would be opened; and we should be invited to enter.

P. 37 cont’d Had the purpose of God been carried out in giving the message of mercy to the world, Christ would have come, and the saints would have received their welcome into the city of God.

P. 39. cont’d If we indeed have the truth for these last days, it must be carried to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. Erelong the living and the dead are to be judged according to the deeds done in the body, and the law of God is the standard by which they are to be tested.

P. 39 cont’d Then they must now be warned; God's holy law must be vindicated, and held up before them as a mirror. To accomplish this work, means is needed. I know that times are hard, money is not plenty; but the truth must be spread, and money to spread it must be placed in the treasury….

The Acts of the Apostles p.27. Before ascending to heaven, Christ gave His disciples their commission. He told them that they were to be the executors of the will in which He bequeathed to the world the treasures of eternal life.

Cont’d p.28. The gospel commission is the great missionary charter of Christ's kingdom. The disciples were to work earnestly for souls, giving to all the invitation of mercy. They were not to wait for the people to come to them; they were to go to the people with their message.

Matthew 28 :18-20. vs. 18. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All Power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

vs. 19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Vs. 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

Revelation 14: 6-12. vs.6: And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Vs. 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Vs. 8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, the great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Vs. 9 And the third angel followed them saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

Vs. 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation: and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Vs. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name;

Vs. 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
