1 Audio Spotlighting

2 Introduction Why Audio spotlighting?
Because coventional sound systems emits sound in all directions In order to pursue directional sound beams we are stepping towards Audio spotlighting

3 Theory Even the most sophisticated hi-fi speakers have a difficult time in reproducing clean bass So accuracy is not achieved in conventional Audio systems

4 Audio spotlighting production
Smaller wave length hence lesser the beam angle Source loud speaker can be of several times bigger than the wavelength of the sound transmitted

5 Components It consists of 3 major components
A thin, circular transducer array A signal processor Amplifier

6 Projections specifications
Transducer of .5 inches thickness and an active area of 1 foot in diameter Produces 3 degree wide beam of sound i.e, even audible at distances over 100 meters

7 Working principle Works on the principle of non linearity of air
Uses ultra sound pulses It divides known as parametric array employs non linearity of air Creates audible bi products from in audible ultra sound frequencies

8 Gradual distortion in ultra sound beams produces in a predictable way
When light beam is focused the air itself acts as a demodulator

9 Production Uses similar to the idea of amplitude modulation
Produces two frequency sets One with the volume of original sound wave is propotional to the ultra sounds The other with the volume of the signal distorted components is exponential

10 Types of projections Two ways of projection Direct audio projection
Projected audio projection bommallu2

11 Comparision Creates highly focused beam of sound
Uses inherent non linearity of air for demodulation Two ways to use –directed and projected audio Wide range of applications Highly “cost effective”

12 Applications Target selection is possible Replaces walkie-talkie
Used in navy systems Used for private messaging systems

13 Future scope Replaces headsets Audio parks New branch in acoustics

14 Conclusion Being the most radical technological development in acoustics since the coil loud speakers were invented in 1925 … audio spotlighting will force people to rethink their relationship with sound So we can conclude that audio spotlighting really “put sound where you want it” and will be “a real boon to the future”
