How Would Jesus Answer the Reporters?

Reporter: In your speech you said that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Are you aware of the emphasis on sex appeal and violence in modern entertainment and advertising?

Jesus: "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. "All these evil things come from within and defile a man." (Mark 7:21-23 NKJV)

Reporter: “You spoke of divorce. What is your view of no-fault divorce?”

Jesus: "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery." (Matthew 19:9 NKJV)

Reporter: “Same sex marriage is increasingly acceptable in this country and there is some debate about what constitutes marriage.”

Jesus: And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' "and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? (Matthew 19:4-5 NKJV)

Reporter: “Apparently you take a literal view of the creation story. Do you also believe such stories as “Jonah and the whale” and “Noah and the big flood”?

Jesus: "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Matthew 12:40 NKJV) "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matthew 24:37 NKJV)

Reporter: “We have heard that you appointed twelve apostles. What were their names? Was there a woman among them?”

Jesus: Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. (Matthew 10:2-4 NKJV)

Reporter: “We are a very diverse society. Wouldn’t you consider all religions valid?”

Jesus: Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV) "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21 NKJV)

Reporter: “Sir, followers of some of the world’s great religions do not accept you as the Son of God. What would you say to them?”

Jesus: "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." (John 8:24 NKJV) …"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31- 32 NKJV)

Reporter: “What do you advise your followers to do about people of other religions? Should they ignore them or fight them?”

Jesus: …"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18- 20 NKJV)

Reporter: “Are you suggesting that baptism is essential to make one your disciple?”

Jesus: …"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5 NKJV) "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16 NKJV)

Reporter: “One more question. It has been 2,000 years since you were on earth and times have changed more than you probably realize. Those things you are saying just do not fit our times. Surely you don’t expect your followers to live by such outdated concepts, do you?”

Jesus: "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. (John 12:48 NKJV) "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35 NKJV)

 Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. "And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." As He spoke these words, many believed in Him. (John 8:28-30 NKJV)

 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots. (Luke 23:33-34 NKJV)

 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16 NKJV)  "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 10:32 NKJV)  "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3 NKJV)  “… Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10b NKJV)
