2  One Year from Now: Imagine that your campus newspaper is publishing an article about advising at your institution. In an ideal world, what would that article say?  Write two or three highlights from that article.

3  Introduce participants to the development and adoption of a new advising model  Discuss the application of proactive and appreciative advising strategies at SDSU  Provide participants with methods to change the advising culture on their campuses

4  Four-year, public, land-grant institution  Founded in 1881  10,220 undergraduate students (FTE) in fall 2013  2,137 first-time, full-time students in fall 2013  Offer 73 undergraduate majors, 32 master’s degree programs, 15 Ph.D. programs, and 2 professional doctorates  Carnegie Foundation ranking: research university, high research activity  Division I athletic programs  Located in Brookings, SD, population 22,591
