2 Relict Textures –Inherited from original rock Porphyroclast is a mineral fragment of the original rock before dynamic recrystallization produced the YOUNGER groundmass. A porphyroblast is a large mineral crystal in a metamorphic rock which has grown within the finer grained groundmass.
